The T-Mobile Comet (Huawei U8150) is a very small phone with a very economical price. It has great potential as an additional device(s) for use in asset tracking or remote monitoring. We have a few of these and use them extensively in Valarm testing. It runs Android 2.2 and runs Valarm Classic well.
The size and price of this device make it a nice choice for fleet tracking with OBDII data while syncing live to the Command Center and data analysis plus reports from Analytical Mapping! Simply plug it into a car charger and enable the Valarm setting to automatically arm when it receives power and automatically disarm when it loses power. Then you know where the vehicle or asset is at any time and Valarm will alert you when the vehicle is turned on and off. This device also has a light sensor, unusual at this price-point, so it can be used for applications such as when you want to know when a package or container is opened. The light sensor is not super sensitive, so it mainly notices Really Dark and Really Bright. You wouldn’t want to rely on it to chart the changes in light output of a lamp or sunlight throughout a day, for example.
Find one (or many to track all your valuable assets) on eBay or Amazon. Consider using T-Mobile or Metro PCS pre-paid, no contract $30 unlimited data and SMS plan. But remember that Valarm works with any cellular service provider (or just wi-fi) in the world so let us know how Valarm is working with your carrier and device! Also tell us what you’re using Valarm for at info@valarm.net !
